"Tangerine" was a Broadway musical comedy that opened at the Casino Theater in August 1921 and closed the following August. Recording artist Frank Crumit wrote the music for the song "Sweet Lady," which he sang in the show. (A 1921 recording of "Sweet Lady" sung by Frank Crumit can be found on Youtube.)

The "sweet ladies" in the video are a few of the cigarette cards that my grandfather collected around 1900.

"Sweet Lady!
Save the sweetest smile for me.
Sweet Lady!
In my dreams I used to be
Praying for a girlie just like you;
Saying no one else would ever do.
Sweet Lady!
May the sunbeams always shine
For you, flowers blooming all the time.
If you make it true, I'll not be grieving.
Sweet Lady,
Must we keep on make-believing?"
