CX500 Build - Making The Engine Look NEW Again - Cleaning / Hone / Paint EP36

The CX500 build continues with more focus on the GL650 engine and making it look better than NEW with lots of work in cleaning and painting! I also did a fresh cylinder hone on the block using a flex hone from Brush Research for a new bore surface with the new piston rings. Get ready for some OCD satisfying paint peeling as well! To clean an engine for paint I always use scotch bright soapy water and GUNK brand FOAM cleaner spray before an acetone wipe and masking off.

I get my ball hones from Goodson Tools who are a supplier for Brush Research Manufacturing. For this engine as well as the GS450 I used a 320 grit silicon carbide hone. Below is a link to that video which is more of a how-to and has a ton of good information in the video description for you!

For painting engines I use either/both Dupli Color high-temp engine paint with ceramic or VHT brand exhaust/high-temp paint depending on what Im painting and the desired color.
