For many in the West, the church consists of Protestants, Catholics, and a large category of "other." As people learn more, they begin to think of Protestants, Catholics, and Eastern Orthodox as the three main branches of the church. However, even this overlooks a large and ancient segment of the church: the Oriental Orthodox Churches. In this video, I sit down with Fr. Anthony Mourad, a Coptic Orthodox priest to discuss the history, theology, and spirituality of the Coptic Orthodox church. In so doing, we discuss important aspects of the Coptic Orthodox church such as Coptic christology and the Council of Chalcedon, Coptic liturgy, and the spirituality of a church that has endured a great amount of persecution.
