Stay Tag train your dog to not run away using clicker training and play | Grisha Stewart

A fun, quick exercise from DoggieZen.com for teaching dogs to hold still when you approach. Train your dog to anticipate a fun run in the direction you're coming from, versus away from you. That way, you both get what you want (you get a dog you can catch, your dog gets a fun game).

First train your dog the stand-stay with positive reinforcement (see the kikopup channel). After this, you'll want to rehearse in a variety of ways - approach with leash/collar, different speeds, etc. other ideas for helping this problem: teaching a strong recall, targeting your hand with their nose for treats/toys, etc. When in doubt, use more treats!
