Hafsat speaks on how collective action can help stem the issues of Gender-Based Violence which has been ravaging most parts of Nigeria especially Northern Nigeria.

Hafsat works with the United Nations Population Fund covering issues she remains passionate about including preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Ending Child Marriage. With over 12 years of experience in public and private law, her career has spanned both the private and public sector including the National Judicial Council (NJC), and as a Senior Legislative Aide to the Chairman, House Committee on MDG’s where she contributed to the introduction and push for the enactment of the Child’s Right Bill which has today been passed into law. Through her work with the United Nations, she supported the formulation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) law, the Child Welfare and Protection Law, creation of GBV coalitions and worked directly with civil society groups to support the government in prevention, mitigation, and responding to GBV issues at the sub-national level. Hafsat holds an MSc in Conflict, Security, and Development and was called to the Bar at the Nigeria Law School Abuja in 2009. Asides from her Law Degree from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, she also studied an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education at Penn Foster University in the United States. She has undergone several courses and acquired certificates in Project Management from Oxford University in the United Kingdom, Gender-Based Violence from John Hopkins University, Children's Human Rights from the University of Geneva in collaboration with the United Nations Committee on Rights of the Child to mention a few. Hafsat works with the UNFPA covering issues around preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and ending Child Marriage.
