Filmed on 30/01/2020. A new decade for a first of many big outings to come for this year. To kick things of, it is a trip down to South Yorkshire.

Starting at Scarborough, we catch the new 09:00 Northern Express service to Sheffield which was worked by 170475. The first experience on a 170 along the Yorkshire Coast Route does feel great but unusal. Maybe because used to riding Sprinter units between Scarborough and Hull compared to 170's. Had a nice surprise at Hull as we see Alex Dodds (Dodds Diaries) on his outing and first trainspotting of the year. A nice scenic ride and high speed running gives the 170's some speedy action to Doncaster.

At Doncaster, we filmed a just over 3 hour trainspotting session there to see what the station variety is like during a weekday. Amazingly, it is much busier I feel compared to a weekend with a lot of freight variety and passenger services. New services which includes a 2 hourly service to and from London Kings Cross to Harrogate and a new Northern shuttle service between Doncaster and Lincoln Central.

Next, we catch the 14:37 Northern stopping service to the steel city of Sheffield on the Midland Mainline. This was worked by 144003 which seems to be the dominant Pacer's. The 142's are getting withdrawn with some starting new lifes on Preserved Railways and most scrapped. It was an unusal 2 hour session due to late running and cancelled trains (mostly Northern).

To cover the rest of the time, we decided to have a few rides on Stagecoach Supertrams with the first ride to Malin Bridge Park and Ride which is one of many Park & Rides in Sheffield. Plus with a few shots of trams between Malin Bridge and Hillsborough where the line splits. Next, a tram ride to Hyde Park to get a few shots towards New Cricket Inn tram stop. Then a ride towards back to the city centre before heading back home.

Now, we catch the 21:23 Cross Country Voyager service to Leeds which was worked by 220016. The train was busy but soon quieten down. The train arrived into Leeds 2 minutes early which makes the connection much easier. Saved the best until last as we catch the 22:15 Transpennine Express Nova 3 service to Scarborough. The sounds of the class 68 working hard and some hard thrash moments as well from the driver. The service arrives into Scarborough 3 minutes early before working ECS to Scarborough TM.

Here is to a first of many big outings for this year.
