"How To" repair Sheaffer Snorkel Filler (Sentinel)

Описание к видео "How To" repair Sheaffer Snorkel Filler (Sentinel)

This Snorkel was in pretty good condition to start out with. The most difficult part of this type of pen is removing the sac protector, which can be difficult and lead to breakage, splitting, and a difficult to reseal situation (which causes scraping within the section). However, once they are taken apart they are quite simple to deal with. I would be happy to hear if anyone else has a good way to remove the sac protector. The barrels of these tend to clean up quite well. Though the plastics can shrink and crack, when they hold up they take a very nice polish.

My quick sources for information on the snorkel were Richard Binder's site and PenHero:

For this repair you'll need:
-Maybe some heat
-Cleaning/polishing supplies (Novus plastic polish works well)
-Flat-top screw driver
-Small point pick (i used a dental tool, a larger gauge sewing needing might work) and possibly a small pair of needle-nose pliers
-Possible very thin dowel or medium gauge wire (see my example of using aluminum armature wire) to "pound" out the sac nipple. Sometimes this can be wiggled out, but this will likely lead to the snorkel being removed from the nipple - not a deal breaker, it can be re-shellacked into place.
-Size 15 sac, cutting tool, talc, shellac
-Silicone grease
-Point gasket (available from Indy-Pen-Dance, Anderson Pens, etc)
-O-ring for sheaffer touchdown/snorkel fillers - again from that same places.
