Oberstar’s had a rough week. On June 8th the 806ft ship ran aground in the St Mary’s River south of Sault Ste Marie while carrying a full load of limestone. The details have not been released but she was freed fairly fairly quickly. Damage to the hull has been confirmed and while the extent is unknown it was severe enough that she spent a week at anchor, several more days in Sault Ste Marie and was followed very closely by the Spar the whole trip across the lake (indicating a possible hull breach and pump contained leak), but not severe enough to entirely unload the ship and did not sail close to the shoreline in case they needed to deliberately ground the ship should she start sinking. While at anchor she loaded roughly 4,500 thousand tons of her 30,000 ton load into fleetmate Kaye E Barker. The rest remained on board, she stopped at Hallet 5 to unload her stone before moving to drydock, likely this evening. Hopefully more details soon!
