The Apollo 12 extravehicular activity (EVA), also known as a moonwalk, was the second time humans walked on the surface of the Moon. It took place on November 19, 1969, during the Apollo 12 mission, and was performed by astronauts Charles "Pete" Conrad and Alan Bean. They spent a total of 7 hours and 45 minutes on the lunar surface, during which they collected samples, deployed scientific instruments, and conducted experiments. They also set up the first Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package (ALSEP) to continue gathering data after the astronauts had left the lunar surface. Additionally, the astronauts visited the Surveyor 3 spacecraft, which had landed on the moon in April 1967, and brought back parts of it to Earth for study.
