Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8 vs Nikon Z 24-120 f/4 on Nikon Z9

Описание к видео Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8 vs Nikon Z 24-120 f/4 on Nikon Z9

This is my comparison of the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 versus the Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4. Which of these zoom lenses is for you? I shot them both intensely on my Nikon Z9 and must say they are both excellent lenses at all focal lengths. They are also both S-lenses in the Nikon Z lens line-up. So how to make a choice here? In the video I provide a comprehensive comparison of the two zoom lenses and also show lots of sample images.

If you have one of these lenses or maybe even both, drop me a comment and let me know which one is your preferred choice. And let me know your experience with these lenses.

12:43 Conclusions: which lens is for you?

What I forgot to compare in the video is the price difference: the Nikkor Z 24-70 f/2.8 S cost you about $2300 whereas for the Nikkor Z 24-120 f/4 S you pay only about $1100. So from a pricing perspective, the winner is clear. If you want to pay for one more f-stop wider (from f/4 to f/2.8) more than double the price clearly has to be carefully considered.

Last but not least, this one wider f/stop (f/2.8) is also the reason why the 24-70mm is heavier and has a larger filter thread than the 24-120mm: in the construction of lenses, a widest open aperture of f/2.8 versus f/4 makes a significant difference and typically leads to larger and heavier lenses.
