Tamarind Pulihora
Tamarind rice is a quintessential South Indian dish that is made for all special occasions. This Andhra style Tamarind pulihora is easy to make, tastes tangy, spicy & delicious. We have tried different reccepe and this tasted the best. Please follow whole process as it is, you will enjoy a lot.



1 cup — Rice | బియ్యం | चावल
2 spoons — Mustard seeds | ఆవాలు | सरसों के बीज
20-30 — Curry leaves | కరివేపాకు | करी पत्ता
2-3 — Dry Red chilli | ఎండు ఎర్ర మిరపకాయ | सूखी लाल मिर्च
2-3 — Green chillies | పచ్చి మిరపకాయలు | हरी मिर्च
1/4 spoon — Fenugreek seeds | మెంతి గింజలు | मेथी के बीज
1/2 spoon — Turmeric powder | పసుపు పొడి | हल्दी पाउडर
2-3 spoons — Salt |ఉప్పు | नमक
2-3 cut pieces - Ginger | అల్లం | अदरक
1/2 — spoon Split chickpeas | శనగ పప్పు | चना
1/2 spoon — Polished black gram | మినపగుళ్ళు | उड़द की दाल
1/2 cup — Soaked Tamarind | నానబెట్టిన చింతపండు | भीगी हुई इमली
2 to 3 spoons — Groundnuts | వేరుశనగలు/పల్లీలు | मूंगफली
5 spoons — Oil | నూనె | तेल
1/4 spoon — Asafoetida | ఇంగువ | हींग
2 cups — Water | నీరు | पानी



Tips:
1) Be careful while making dough, too soft may spoil creating modak
2) Add good quality jaggery and fresh cocnut.
3) add some salt in steamer to give salty taste to modak outer later(Optional).
4) don't use sugar, jaggery is best option.
5) you can use hand instead of mold, but need some practice.

reheat technique:
use steamer, avoid heating in oven.
