Livestreaming with Mila the Hash Queen

Описание к видео Livestreaming with Mila the Hash Queen

Loved doing this live-stream with @milahashqueen originally on IG April 15th, 2020. Apologies in advance for the video quality. We tried to download this 5 times. This was the best we were able to capture.

When I was young, I lived for the stories of people who had lead lives of great adventure like Sir Richard Burton, the English explorer who wrote extensively of his travels in India and Africa and translated The Arabian Nights, or the French adventurer Henri de Monfreid who paid for his travels by smuggling and running guns off the coast of the Red Sea. If you love these kinds of stories then get yourself a copy (or ebook) of Mila's How I Became the Hash Queen.

Her accounts of traveling overland with her young daughter as a single mother leaving Europe in July of 1968 with $600 and 300 Gilders brought back memories. There are major mountain treks in flipflops, spiritual studies with Tibetian Llamas, running a school for young children in Goa, a sweater making business with high-end clients like Yves Saint Laurant, lucky and not-so-lucky encounters with the police in various countries as she follows her passion for hashish and becomes the industry-changing inventor of the Pollinator, the promoter of the Ice-o-later, and ice-water sieving bags and in the process creates the first improvements in hash-making in thousands of years.

In this time of self-isolation, the big takeaway from the book is that a life well lived doesn't need a lot of money or the prestige of a senior title from a large corporation, that following your bliss doesn't necessarily have to cost millions and that there are more amazing people, good people to meet all over the world than the news or social media would ever have you imagine. It's the well-kept secret of the life-long traveler.

Thanks, @milahashqueen for all the memories and inspiration. 💚
