The Thaksinarath is the highest-priority train service operated by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) on the Southern Line, running between Hat Yai Junction and Bangkok Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, providing a long-distance rail link in Southern Thailand. This flagship train is known for its comfortable and modern accommodation, making it popular among both locals and tourists despite the higher fare.

The Air-conditioned Second Class Day & Night Coach (ANSCN) is the most common class of travel on the Thaksinarath, and is a popular choice for overnight travel due to its balance of comfort and affordability. The train cars feature open-plan berths, with berths arranged along the sides of the carriage. There are upper and lower berths. The lower berths are slightly more expensive due to the bigger space and ease of access. During the day, the berths can be converted into facing seats, providing a comfortable space to sit. Curtains are provided for each berth, offering some privacy for passengers. Basic amenities such as bedding, pillows, and blankets are provided. There are shared toilets and washbasins at the ends of each carriage.
