Chesterfield to Staveley Basin along the Chesterfield Canal

If you've never cycled or walked along the Chesterfield canal, here's a little of what your missing.
This is truly a hidden gem of the area. Work continues through volunteers and donations, and hopefully one day the Chesterfield end of the canal will finally be linked back up with the river Trent at West Stockwith.

I cycle this easy, mostly flat route, regularly from my home in Inkersall, along the Trans Pennine Way, through Staveley, onto Chesterfield and back via Poolsbrook Country Park (approx 18 miles).

From Chesterfield to Staveley Basin is approximately 5 miles. Except the very beginning and end, I've sped the film up by x2, so it runs quicker, but you still get the idea of what the trail is like.

The trail also links to the Trans Pennine Trail and is within easy reach of Rother Valley Country Park, which is about 5 miles north of Staveley Basin.
