Woodturning- spalted white Birch

Описание к видео Woodturning- spalted white Birch

This piece turned out much prettier than I thought it would. First off I didn’t know it was spalted when I took it into the shop. It was cracked on the end so I figured I should turn it soon. I cut off one end before I cut it in half to get rid of the cracks. That’s when I saw how spalted it was. I was now hoping it was not rotten in the middle. I was pleasantly surprised that it was still pretty solid. The more I worked this piece the better it looked. I do believe this is the best example of spalted wood I’ve personally ever turned. I consider myself fortunate that I trim and remove trees for a living. That gives me a lot of chances to find unusual wood to turn. ( for those who may dislike me for removing trees, please keep in mind that I have planted more than 30,000 trees in my time) Well thank you for watching, I hope you like the video.
