Sabbath vs. Sunday (The Lord's Day)

Описание к видео Sabbath vs. Sunday (The Lord's Day)

What is the difference between the Sabbath and Sunday?

In the Old Testament Book of Genesis, God created the universe in six days but on the seventh day God rested.

Then as one of the Ten Commandments, God required his people to also rest on the seventh day and keep that day holy and dedicated to the Lord.

The seventh day of the week (Saturday) was called the Sabbath or Shabbat, which comes from the Hebrew word meaning "rest."

Christianity and the Sabbath

Christians, however, do not rest on the seventh day of the week.

What day is the sabbath in Christianity?

Christians throughout history have celebrated Sunday, the first day of the week, as the "Lord's Day"?

Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday, the first day of the week. Christians recognized the significance of the Resurrection on Sunday as the beginning of a new creation.

The Lord's Day is a celebration of the eighth day of the week, a day for the new creation.

Christians do not rest on Sundays, but they do keep the day holy just as God said in the Ten Commandments. They join together in celebration of the Eucharist and the breaking of the bread and listen to God's word.
