This is a wall art project designed by Steve Good. I saw it and had to try it. I used 5/16 oak as the backer board and 1/4 mahogany for the face. I would rather have used walnut for the face but did not have enough on hand. I would not use mahogany again for this as it is fragile for the whiskers and was not dark enough, I had to stain it to get contrast with the backer board. I also had trouble getting it to look "right" but finaly managed to do so. I believe that was more a problem of perspective as it lay on the bench. Once it was finished and hung up it looked great.
