CSX Santa Train In Rural Virginia, Coming Out Of Tunnel, Over RR Bridge & Under Me! Haysi & Dante 1

Santa Train With Special Locomotives, Passenger Cars & Santa Giving Out Toys! This Is The 81st Run Of The CSX Santa Train. 4 Locomotives & 13 Cars On This Special Train With CSX Passenger Cars Including Observation Car James Foote Who Was CSX CEO For 5 Years. This train chase is in Virginia and is Part 1 of 2.
The 2 big locomotives on the lead are pulling the train since the F units had problems with the traction motors. I chased the train all the way to Kingsport, Tennessee and then visited Hobo Shoestring. This video shows half of the chase. I left my home at 3:30am and got to Haysi, Virginia just before 8am. While I was in Tennessee I filmed some trains in Bristol and that video will be posted soon.
The first stop is Haysi, Virginia at the wye where the closed Haysi Railroad joins the CSX mainline. With the coal load out closed there is no use for the Haysi spur other than for maintenance of way on a short piece of track. A rail was removed to prevent anything from going past the railroad crossing that is by the fire station. I filmed the train coming through the tunnel and stopping next to Railroad Ave. We see Santa giving out some presents and then I went to the next stop.
The second stop that I made was at Clinchco where we see the train going over a curving railroad bridge. The bridge goes over a creek and over the road. I filmed that from the bed of my truck.
I paced the train and then got a great video of it going under me at Clintwood. I was having trouble getting information on my cell phone due to virtually no cellphone coverage in this part of Virginia. This part of the chase had no cell phone coverage.
The final scene in this video is at Dante, Virginia. We see the train stop at the church for a short time and then we see it passing through the Dante rusty railroad yard. This was a busy coal yard until the recent loss of coal loadings on the line. Today the tracks are all rusty and trees are starting to grow in them. The 2 main line tracks are shiny but that's it. This ex Clinchfield Railroad line doesn't get the coal action that it once had. It's a shame to see the loss of coal jobs that this area depends on. The best frequency here is 161.100 and 452.9375 for the EOT.
