Pre Combat Checks and Inspections: Ensure Your Equipment Is Ready For The Fight

"Pre combat checks" and "Pre combat inspections" are a very important part of any legitimate unit's ritual before a planned action. Doing any sort of work that requires this kind of equipment is inherently very high risk. If you are in that role, or you are training for a potentially very bad day, you should want to reduce any potential risk that you might cause. For example, the phrase "press checks are free" is heard at almost any course. Where does this come from? Losing a match (or your life) because you didn't take the time to ensure the condition of your weapon is easily avoidable. That philosophy applies to all of your equipment. You can and should do this same ritual on training days as well, in order to make it a habit every time you put that equipment on.
