Panelled Elm Antique Chinese Cabinet

This elegant cabinet dates from the 19th century and originates from central China's Shanxi province. The design features centrally fitted panelled doors with intricately carved spandrels that taper down to the feet, a characteristic style of the region. Its dark lacquer finish remains mostly intact, aside from the top surface which shows signs of wear and age. The doors also boast ring handles and are mounted on wooden stiles. Two drawers above showcase expertly detailed carvings of horses facing in opposite directions. Inside, a removable shelf provides optimal storage. Made of  elm wood, the cabinet is in excellent condition for its age, a testament to the fine craftsmanship of the Shanxi carpenters.
