SEPTA Route 36 Trolley Eastwick Loop

Описание к видео SEPTA Route 36 Trolley Eastwick Loop

The Island Avenue & 80th St Eastwick Loop is where the single ended Route 36 trolleys turn around to begin their next run to Center City Philadelphia.

The loop is located near the Penrose Plaza Shopping Center and is close to the Philadelphia International Airport.

I'll admit that this isn't the most visually interesting place I've shot but there is plenty to see here. It's a parade of trolleys going in and out of the loop, discharging and picking up passengers. When there are no trolleys, planes on approach to the airport are always overhead. I even saw a few off-duty fire trucks on the day I was there. You are about 20 yards and a fence away from The SEPTA Wilmington/Newark Line which sees some freight activity.

The locals are very friendly. Why one woman asked me what I was doing down there and asked me if I would like a "date." I said, "no thanks, I'm just down here filming trolleys for my YouTube channel." "I'm Trenton Line Railfan, maybe you've heard of me, I have over 40 subscribers!" She said she hadn't. So I thanked her for generous offer and we cheerfully parted company with a smile.

When trolley watching, It's always a good idea to keep an eye on what's going on with the route you are filming. Twitter is a great way. SEPTA provides updates as they are happening. Trolley operations are very fragile. A brokedown truck or a double parked car can gum up the works and shuttle buses will be immediately called out. The route 36 on the day I was filming had to be shut down due to police activity shortly after I left for the day.

Thanks for watching!
