Cherilata Annona Fruit - Harvest & Taste Review | All About the Cherilata Annona Hybrid

Описание к видео Cherilata Annona Fruit - Harvest & Taste Review | All About the Cherilata Annona Hybrid

The Cherilata is a new Annona hybrid of fruit that is crossed between the Annona cherimola (cherimoya) X Annona reticulata (custard apple).

The cultivators of this hybrid are said to be A. cherimola 'Spain' x A. reticulata 'Tikal'.

This fruit to me has been important to me because of the fact that being in Florida and having the chance to grow a Cherimoya crossed fruit.

In Florida growing cherimoya is difficult as they like elevation & more mountain regions such as California - we use cherimoya as a rootstock in Florida but it is very hard to fruit them.

The Cherilata took about 4 months from the time it was hand-pollinated to harvest today.

The Cherilata should be able to withstand colder temperatures due to its genes of cherimoya.

Harvesting the Cherilata was fun, I still have 1 more fruit on the tree.
The Cherilata was delicious, it had a very strong raspberry flavor but still maintained a very smooth creamy texture very similar to a cherimoya I’ve eaten from California.

The cherilata was not very chewy, but creamy instead and very light sweet - not every sweet. I also tasted hints of pineapple closer to the center while a strong raspberry flavor towards the skin of the fruit.

Near the skin of the cherilata it was grainy - but still maintained to have a sweet flavor.
The seeds are rather small, much smaller than atemoya and even a bit smaller than sugar apple seeds. Jet black finish on the cherilata seeds.

I really am impressed with this Cherilata and to me, I enjoyed it much more than a sugar apple (my all-time favorite fruit). But there are some things that the sugar apple does contain such as a chewier and meatier core but it did not contain as much as a flavor profile as the cherilata did contain.
