Garlic is one of the easiest and most rewarding crops you can grow—and one of the most versatile in the kitchen. In this episode of my Seed to Plate series, I walk you through how I grow, harvest, cure, and preserve garlic from start to finish.

I cover two planting methods. I find that fall planting is much more successful than spring in my area, but learn what works best for you.
• A no-dig method (cloves laid on the soil surface and covered with compost)
• A traditional raised bed method (cloves planted below the surface and covered with compost)

From fall planting to summer harvest, I share practical tips for care, curing, and long-term storage, along with a few of my favorite ways to preserve garlic—like fermenting it in honey, blending it into garlic scape herb salt, and adding it to my go-to basil walnut pesto.

Garlic Checklist:
☐ Separate cloves (leave skin on) 00:10
