SWAN DRUMS 14x4 Steam Bent Solid Shell USA Maple Snare & SONOR SQ1 Soundcheck by Bryan Macaranas

I knew I had to order a drum the day I was made privy to the evolution of Swan Drums into some tasty steam bent solid shell snare drums. This 14x4 solid shell, USA Maple in Antique White is simply gorgeous; in looks and sound! From what I know, steam bent shells produce a lower fundamental due to the minimised stress on the shell. Therefore I made sure I grabbed a shallower (typically for higher pitch tuning) depth to give me the ‘best of both worlds’. I couldn’t be happier.
Then of course there’s the ‘green monster’. Many of you would know that this Sonor SQ1 in 'Roadster Green' is my main rig. To be able to setup 3 rack toms, and two floor toms is a rarity. I love being able to tune all the drums in harmony; any 2 drums should sound great together. And this goes with your cymbal selection too. A widely overlooked nuance when it comes to tuning I feel. But don’t let my words be your only guide - listen, and try yourself too.
