Authorities in Fort Portal Tourism City have blamed the delayed implementation of Uganda Municipal Infrastructure Development projects on some local contractors who are working at a slow pace. According to Edison Asaba Ruyonga, the Fort Portal City mayor, they are worried that most projects will not be completed by December 6, 2023. Mill Lane Road, Water Supply-Kahunga-Bunyonyi Road, Mugoma Road are being constructed at Shs 20.9 billion. However, Herbert Kaihura, the Fort Portal City Engineer says 60 percent of the works on most roads has been completed. China Railway 18 group Co. Ltd blamed the delay on a local contractor they sub-contracted to carry out some work under the Buy Uganda Build Uganda arrangement.
