HOW TO READ THE MOON TAROT CARD

When the Moon card turns up it can be taken as a sign that we may not be in full possession of all the facts relating to a particular situation that’s concerning us. The card can be telling us to stop, try to think objectively, and to wait for the sun to come out so that we can see the situation clearly and make an informed judgement on what is happening around us. 
The card can also relate to disturbances or unresolved issues in the subconscious mind, possibly caused by a trauma experienced in our past that is clouding our judgement and preventing us from seeing things as they really are.
The Moon can be a reminder to ask ourselves if what we are feeling is based in reality or coming from a place of prejudice or distrust. It encourages us to look at our situation with an open heart. 
When the Moon appears upside down it can mean a reluctance to explore the deeper parts of ourselves and the causes of our disturbance. We talked in the Death video about Carl Jung’s Shadow Work and how everyone carries a shadow, which comprises the less desirable aspects of our personality. Jung says “The less it is embodied into the individual's conscious life, the blacker and denser it is”. The path that leads into the unknown can be seen as our journey into those darker parts of ourselves that we usually try to hide from the world and from ourselves. Those little thoughts that crop up in our minds that give us feelings of shame, regret and fear. The Moon upside can symbolise our attempts to repress those thoughts and feelings. As human beings we are naturally pain averse and would rather not have to deal with the disturbed emotions that come from that part of ourselves. However, if we should wish to find our authentic selves and achieve harmony between our thoughts and actions we must journey on the path between the towers and through to the enlightenment that’s waiting for us on the other side. The calming presence of the Moon is there to help us study those feelings and gain a greater understanding rather than pushing them away.
The big takeaway for the Moon card is the concepts of illusion, fear and uncertainty. The card’s position on the Fool’s Journey, between the Star and the Sun speaks of the process of discovery that we must go through in order to achieve wisdom.
