Mazzaq Tigittuaq: Kingikmiut Dance Festival

In this episode of Mazzaq Tigittuaq, we celebrate our culture with one of the largest Alaska Native dance festivals in the state, the Kingikmiut Dance Festival, which returned in 2023 after a hiatus due to the pandemic. Since its establishment in1999, and prior to the pandemic, the festival has been held at least yearly in the community of Wales. The festival is a testament to the enduring traditions passed down from Elders to the younger generations. Through dance and song, the festival ensures that the culture and heritage of the Our People thrives, fostering a deep sense of community and continuity.
