A/C Not Working, Smart Thermostat Has No Power

Описание к видео A/C Not Working, Smart Thermostat Has No Power

Disclaimer - I am not a certified Air Conditioning (A/C) technician or an electrician and my issues were simple to fix once I understood what was wrong. A/C units can run on DANGEROUSLY high voltage and can be life threatening to service without proper knowledge. If you start poking around you could cause additional costly damage to the system. Also, although you may have the same symptoms as I did, there are a myriad of potential problems that can cause your A/C to stop working. I cannot guarantee that my approach would be approved by an AC service specialist, proceed at your own risk. When in doubt, contact your A/C Service Company.

Discovered my A/C unit was not running. I also noticed that the smart thermostat, an Ecobee Thermostat, appeared to be off or had no power. Before calling an A/C repair service I decided to look into it myself. I found that my safety overflow float switch had been tripped which cuts the power to the air conditioner, as well as the thermostat, as a safety precaution to prevent flooding from condensation that naturally occurs by the air handler. The float switch was faulty. This video first walks you through the replacement of the float switch. But, it also turns out that I had an additional problem. The condensate drain line was clogged, or at least partially clogged. I then show you how I vacuumed the condensate line and added A/C pan tablets to help remove the buildup. The system has been working great now for several weeks.
