TRESCO - Isles of Scilly - 4K Tour of the Island

A day out on Tresco in the Isles of Scilly. Filmed on a perfect (but breezy) August day this tour of the island takes in many of the highlights of the beautiful Scillonian island.

Starting with the quick crossing from St Mary's we head for the landing at New Grimsby. This lovely little beach with its quay sets the scene for the rest of Tresco with its near white sands and clutch of cottages.

From the "harbour" we head cross country towards Old Grimsby on the opposite coast. En route is the pretty church of St Nicholas. Tresco's east coast is just as picturesque as the west and is the location of the island's main accommodation.

After a brief stop at the Ruin Beach cafe (not filmed) we head north to the wilderness that is the "North End". The moorland here is reminiscent of that in West Cornwall, but the views are a little more spectacular with the sapphire blue sea dotted with islands.

Round the corner, and back on the west coast are the medieval fortifications of King Charles' Castle and Cromwell's Castle. Each very different in design, they are both well worth exploring - which we did!

Heading to the southern end of Tresco we finish with a brief tour of what is probably the island's best known attraction - Tresco Abbey Gardens. This 17 acre sub-tropical garden features over 3,000 species of plants from around the world and is beautifully laid out. This video only includes a few selected highlights, for a more thorough tour of the gardens check out    • Tresco Abbey Gardens - Isles of Scill...

Have to say, we didn't have quite enough time on Tresco. Given another hour I would have liked to have filmed around the corner from the gardens at Pentle Bay and carried on up to the Blockhouse... Maybe next time.
