Depressed Husband: There's No Room for My Emotions

Описание к видео Depressed Husband: There's No Room for My Emotions

Do you always have to be the calm, collected one who holds it all together because your partner is depressed? Does it feel like there is no room for your emotions in your relationship? I used to feel that way too. I don't think I ever thought, "I have a depressed husband, there's no room for my emotions" exactly, but I certainly acted that way! I bottled everything up. Then I started to learn about self-care and coaching, and I realized that keeping all that emotion on the inside, wasn't healthy.

Please Note: I have shifted the primary focus of my coaching business, in response to the needs of my clients, and am primarily helping high performing men recover from the end of a relationship and rebuild themselves to get healthy, get happy and move on with confidence.

I will continue to keep a couple of slots on my calendar for women and people with depressed partners.

Making room for my emotions in my relationship required me to take responsibility for working through my own painful feelings. I had been tasking my partner with that job, and it wasn't fair to him or to me! I wanted to open up to him and have him make it all okay. When he couldn't, I felt abandoned and alone. I bottled my emotions back up and never dealt with them.

It wasn't until I learned how to feel my feelings in a safe, controlled way that I was able to find relief. I had to take responsibility for my own feelings. I had to make room for my own emotions, instead of asking my depressed husband to do it for me. Learning to do this was the first step towards setting myself free. Free from anxiety, free from shame, free from anger. Taking the first step can be scary, but it is so, so worth it! You've got this!!
