Описание к видео 18th Century Stays - A Close Up Look!

Historical costuming at it's most complicated! Georgian underwear - and particularly stays are one of the more difficult part of the wardrobe to understand, make and dress.
This video takes a look at some of the mid 18th C Staymaking techniques that we have been discovering in our staymaking research.
The original to this pair of stays can be found at the Manchester Costume Galleries (1947.1624) and are of a gorgeous blue damask. This video talks us through some of the key details found on the original, some of the standard techniques used and also how we found replicating it.
And here's a list of the quotes and images used in the video:
- 1741 - P.83 "Dress & Undress" - I.Brooke
- The Order Family - Devis - 1754-56
- Countess of Buckingham and Daughter - attrib. T.Hudson - 1754
- Adelaide of France - nattier - 1756
