Fly Fishing Early Season 2023 at Kentmere Tarn, Biggest Brown Trout I've ever Caught

Описание к видео Fly Fishing Early Season 2023 at Kentmere Tarn, Biggest Brown Trout I've ever Caught

These clips are of fly fishing at Kentmere Tarn in the English Lake District and were taken over 2 weekend in April 2023. After a few missed fish, an unexpected disturbance (shown in the video), and landing a small stocked fish, I landed the biggest brown trout I've ever caught.
The tarn is stocked with smaller Brown Trout by Staveley Angling Association and is fly only. However, as, you'll see there are some much bigger fish in there.

As well as the stocked part, there is a separate part of the tarn (separated by a net) containing only wild brown trout. The upper river Kent can also be accessed from the tarn.

I only noticed when I edited the video that my GoPro had a smudge on it that blurred part of the image. Apologies, I'll make sure it's clean for future videos.

Tight lines all.

Equipment Used:

Rod - 9'9" 6# Guideline Elevation Fly Rod
Reel - 5/7# Piscifun alloy reel (from Amazon) a great cheap reel!
Line - 6# unknown origin, from local fly shop

Day Tickets or membership of Staveley Anglers can be bought from the Beehive News agent/Post office in Staveley.

There are lost of other locations to fly fish in the lake district and some of these are shown in my other videos. Cumbria has many brown trout rivers and tarns and some of the higher tarns in the fells are free for fly fishing with a good head of wild brown trout.
