Two brand new models from the new Yellowfin range of hand made true plate boats out in choppy conditions. Does Aaron have a new favourite boat model?

The new Yellowfins not only look beautiful, but also have exceptional performance, many features included as standard, and are built to a very high quality in the same factory as Quintrex.

The main differences between the two models is a folding hard top on the 6500 with a nice cuddy cabin and folding windscreen, and the massive 7600 southerner with the fixed hard top and extended cockpit area and large cabin, offering more comfort and protection. The deck space on both models is very large, and you could comfortably fish multiple people.

One point of difference when comparing a Yellowfin to other brands is high quality, well designed and built ladders, transom doors, and bait boards. The transom doors fold down and become a step which is a very clever design. A window in a large live bait tank is a must, along with nice and strong stainless steel rod holders, welded into the boat.
Another important comparison is that the fuel tank is filled from the side of the boat, with a nice 'walled' off area on the side deck. It's safe to fill up, water won't rest around the inlet, along with a few other benefits. Another great design from Yellowfin.

Going away for a few days? There's MASSIVE fuel tanks on both models; the 6500 has 320L, and the 7600 380L. Wow!
If storage is an issue, the 6500 has a folding windscreen and hard top, making the height of the boat just 2.2m. Yellowfin really has designed and planned these boats very well.

The 7600 has Zipline Trimtabs, which are top of the line automatic trimtabs. They cost the most, but are the best and well worth the investment.

The performance on the water is as you'd expect. Exceptional. Both models are soft and dry, corner very well, and powered through the choppy conditions like it was nothing. The 6500 does not come standard with Trimtabs, but we found that only certain customers would require them, depending on their needs.
Both models squirted the wash our sideways, away from the boat keeping inside nice and dry.

These new Yellowfins really are amazing. If you are considering purchasing a plate boat, make sure you come out on a water test.
