My every day carry (EDC), notebook and checklists

Decades ago I saw a beautiful organizer bag in a Mexico City store and wondered whether I should spend the purchase price of ca £10. As a student this seemed like a luxury item for me. Did I make a good purchase?

Forty years on and the same leather pouch continues to serve me well. It is a place to carry travel cards and ID, cash, receipts, various pens, a notebook, post-it notes, sunglasses, a calculator and whatever else I choose to fit inside it.

Here I look at how the A6 notebook inside serves me as the place to write out my checklist of the things that can help my focus and activity for each week. For me, taking a few minutes on the Sunday afternoon is my way of considering and planning the big tasks and things that matter for the coming week

This week my focus is on a manuscript edit, choosing book cover art and planning family activities and events.

Organize your life with a simple notebook. Simplify your working week by looking at the main tasks and see these clearly. Use checklists and to do lists to give yourself a clear sense of what matters and how to monitor your progress.
