Clinical Applications of BioPhotonics

In this webinar, Dr. Carl Fisher discusses about clinical applications in biophotonics in two separate categories: diagnostics and therapeutics. Basic concepts concerning each application are given. Dr. Fisher goes over case studies in (1) Ophthalmology, (2) Reproductive System, (3) Central Nervous System (CNS) to explain aspects of the clinical challenge and how biophotonics technologies can be useful to provide clinical solutions in a daily basis. Technologies discussed involved Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), Photoacoustic Imaging (PAI), Fluorescence-guided resection. Many other technologies and treatment procedures which can also provide clinical solutions are listed, including technologies developed by the Biophotonics team at the Irish Photonic Integration Centre (IPIC) and Tyndall National Institute.
