Here is another outing for my renovated, 1970s generation Jouef CC21001. I have renovated it so that it looks OK next to new generation models, painted it into the post 1978 Beton version of its livery, but left it with the original mechanism (even though I think it still has a 3-pole motor, it is running really well after a thorough service) and still obviously an old school model. In short, I have set it up to get the most visual and performance enjoyment out of it, without destroying its original rustic charm!
It is hauling the famous Trans Europe Express "Cisalpin" which ran from Paris to Milano. The consist is a rake of Jouef Mistral 69 coaches. The only adjustmetn to these is that I have painted the centres of the wheels grey, leaving a shiny type rim- this really improves the appearance of the model, as the original bright silver wheel faces look badly off to me. Three of the coaches are new releases, with the weathered roof and proper sized buffers. The consist is completely correct, except I had to substitute an open plan coach for one corridor.
This website has everything you need to know about Mistral 69 coaches, included the compositions of the trains: https://docrail.fr/les-voitures-mistr...
This train is set post 1978 BTW.

The second train is a diesel hauled Paris to Basel service. It is hauled by one of my new generation Jouef BB72000s. These are lovely locos- I saw them in real life on the Roanne to Lyon line, but idiotically, did not seek out a ride behind one!

I was attraced to the consist because of the bright yellow OCEM postal van. I managed to get hold of a super detailed Jouef model. It has NEM couplings, but like many of the early Jouef NEM coach couplings, they are completely hopeless, unsprung and at the wrong height. Also, the wheels were too small, and resulted in derailments. However, a set of old school Lima wheels solved the problem. The Corail half brake is a beautiful artisan Cemp/Mougel kit. It is slightly higher than the rest of the rake (which is Lima), but it is better than the Jouef alternative! Cemp/Mougel Corails are fantastic, but if you see an unmade kit, be aware that the plastic may have gone brittle, as they are quite old. I made a whole rake, and screwing the bogie in could shatter the chassis. The steps also snap off. I spend alot of time reglueing things! However, if you do get a prebuilt one, a good kit or are carefull with a brittle kit, you will be rewarded with a fantastic coach. I have also had problems with brittle plastic on some Roco coaches, too BTW.
