Making NYC's Magnolia Bakery Cupcakes At Home

Have you ever tried the world famous Magnolia Bakery cupcake? I wanted to recreate them at home after having missed out on trying them when I recently paid a visit to New York City. The most famous Magnolia Bakery cupcake is the Vanilla flavour and was featured on Sex And The City.... (:|) Not joking, these were some of the best cupcakes I've ever had.

Here is the recipe that makes 24 (Keep in mind I HALFED everything):

1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing pans
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting pans
1 ½ cups self-rising flour
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs, at room temperature
