Pontiac 400 W/621 Tq & 605.5 Hp On Pump Gas! By Butler Performance

This build started out with one of our Butler Performance core 400 blocks that the customer chose to upgrade to billet 4-bolt main caps. We then used our Ross/Butler BU Flat top Forged Pistons that we stock along with Eagle specialty products H-Beam ARP 2000 Rod Bolt connecting rods. This engine is stroked with the Eagle 4.250 forged crank to make it very street and track friendly while also adding durability and longevity. We used the short travel hydraulic roller lifters from Johnson Lifters-Proudly Made in America of course; That was paired with our Butler/Comp 3317-3318-HR-112 Billet roller cam and Scorpion 1.65 Ratio Endurance series rockers. Using our 80PSI Pro oil Pump and a Canton Road Race/Drag race oil pan to hold enough oil keep this engine with plenty of oil pressure whether racing or cruising around town. Daryl wanted to update the look of this engine using our black short valve covers with a nice contrast to the rest of the engine to really make it an eye grabber. We used a 950 CFM Ultra XP Holley carb to keep this engine fed with enough air and fuel to make 621 torque and 605.5 horsepower for any situation Daryl may put it in. We used a RobMc mechanical fuel pump that can support up to 1000 HP. RobMc Fuel pumps also have built in regulator that you can use without having to buy a separate regulator and without the hassle of finding somewhere to install it. Daryl decided on using Rd port 340 CNC heads and a victor intake ported to match the heads. We installed a LBB1 Mega Brace to add some more strength to this original cast block to keep the lifters from breaking their bores when the engine is really torquing. MSD ignition kit keeps everything in time and with a hot fire to the spark plugs to make that better burn in the chamber which of course equals better performance. Our GZ evac kit will keep any oil seepage from forming under harsh conditions like the Race track so Daryl can focus on the win without any worries.
