Cut "Villa" Level - Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko Beta

Описание к видео Cut "Villa" Level - Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko Beta

A preview of the cut level "Villa" (or Village). This was intended to be an exclusive level for the Nintendo 64 release of this game, but missed the cut. Given the current state of the level, it's likely that this was entirely abandoned due to time constraints.

I don't believe any objectives were ever programmed into this level, but from general observation we can figure out what the objectives could've been. There are multiple geese dotted around donning caps, chains and shades that are walking around, and flee when chased, then shake their ass at you. I don't know. You can kill them by whacking them several times with your tail, and killing all of them could possibly have been an objective. As for enemies that can directly harm you, there is a playing card enemy that duplicates when hit, but isn't too difficult to kill.

Across various areas of the level are buildings that can be entered, all pertaining to various fairytales, as expected. In the gingerbread house, you can find three sleeping bears (Likely a Goldilocks reference), and I think it was planned to be able to jump on them, since the the Papa Bear is locked in his "bounced on" animation, if I were to hazard a guess. The other interiors that can be entered are devoid of entities, consisting of a shoe house with beds inside, and a regular house. Inaccessible without noclipping is another building that contains a room with a fireplace and a spider, and Humpty Dumpty can be found on the roof, but cannot be interacted with.

It's hard to talk about the buildings and map layout for this stage since a lot of areas lack texturing, leaving them entirely black. Against a black skybox, they are virtually invisible, including a huge untextured castle front that is barely visible, but has some roaming space inside. There are moving platform and jump sections found upon the rooftops, with baked pies acting as the moving platforms. These don't seem to be properly mapped out, so their placements don't really make sense. A tower with a Rapunzel texture that acts as a climbable wall for Gex, but it's not correctly programmed in yet, so you can't scale it correctly. With the rooftop section, you can take a route that allows you to jump through an open window (I think?) on the castle that allows you to kill a hidden goose, which seems to be the only part of the platforming that was actually finished.

Two screenshots of this level (an other levels) in a more complete state were found on some PlayStation Zone demo discs, and can be found in this video:
