Zoom MS-70CDR | Playthrough all of the algorithms (except reverbs) [STEREO, no talking]

Описание к видео Zoom MS-70CDR | Playthrough all of the algorithms (except reverbs) [STEREO, no talking]

The Zoom MS-70CDR is excellent. It gets a lot of praise on the forums and in some cases seems pretty ‘hyped’ as the ‘ultimate sleeper pedal’ or ‘poor man’s H9’. In my opinion it actually does live up to the hype. In some cases it seems like they straight copied algorithms from popular digital pedals such as the Strymon Timeline (Ice, LoFi) and Eventide Timefactor / Pitchfactor / Space / H9. ‘Space Hole’ on the Zoom is a very good ‘Blackhole’ rendition, as are the pitch shifted delays (if that’s what you’re into.)

You’ll notice I skipped through a bunch of algorithms in this video, mainly the choruses and filter modes as they get pretty repetitive. I have a separate video where I go through the reverbs here    • Zoom MS-70 CDR | Initial Meanderings ...

A couple of minor gripes I have:
- In most delay modes, when you adjust the delay time, the wet signal cuts out. Not very fun
- When trying to make larger adjustments to parameters (particularly delay time), the number will very easily skip to the highest or lowest value if you flick / move the knob too fast. It takes too long to go from say, 200ms delay time to 500ms because the pots are stepped, and each step is 1ms until you rotate fast, at which point it will just jump to the end.

One major issue I have:
High pitch digital whine. Seems like a design flaw, and not always present. The frequency is very specific somewhere around 10-15kHz. Noise is the same running on batteries, isolated power, mono, stereo, and with a buffer in front and/or after the Zoom, bypassed and active. It is most present the more DSP you are using, so if you are just using one of the compressor algorithms alone, it is almost inaudible. Numerous others have reported the same issue on reddit.

The tuner works nicely, you can stack effects in a chain and mess with the order until you run out of DSP (not possible on a H9), the user interface is highly intuitive and this thing is CHEAP. I paid about $80USD (used) but they can be had even cheaper if you check eVilBay / Reverb.com

SHOEGAZER has an excellent video demonstrating how you can add all of the dirt algorithms from the MS-50, here    • I hacked my Zoom Multistomp Pedal (Do...

It runs off standard 9v DC or even 2xAA batteries as I am doing in the video. The current draw is ~128mA though, so I wouldn't count on them for too long, but it is nice that they are included with the pedal.

Overall I highly recommend this pedal, even as a standalone reverb, or as a ‘catch-all’ at the end of your pedalboard, for things you use less frequently that don’t warrant having individual pedals for.

Next video, oscillation (plugging output R into input L)    • Zoom MS-70CDR Feedback Loop Fun
