►Ingredients For the Cottage Pie

►For the Mince Filling

2 onions
5 garlic cloves
2 carrots
2 celery sticks
1 leek
Dried or Fresh Rosemary & Thyme
2 tbsp. oil
1 kg ground beef mince or lamb mince (shepherd's pie)(use good quality, 15% fat)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
3 tbsp plain flour (In US, known as All Purpose Flour)
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 cup red grape juice
3 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1100ml homemade beef stock
1 rosemary twig
Few bay leaves

►For the Mashed Potato

1.2 kg potatoes
Water or stock for boiling
110 grams butter
100ml double cream
80ml milk
Few garlic cloves, rosemary and thyme twigs
Few black peppercorns
Pinch of salt

►For the Assembly

Oven proof dish
1 large egg yolk
Butter and cheese (optional)
Serve with fresh salad or vegetables
