DANGEROUS? CHILD PROOF PLUG SOCKET COVERS

As a parent of young children, I have looked into this for some time. These accessories are marketed to be child proof safety plug socket covers that will stop your child getting an electric shock by preventing your child sticking their fingers or foreign objects into the holes of the socket.

They are sold in major UK retail outlets and are sometimes sold as part of essential child proofing kits to parents.

So. Are parents being misadvised?

What if I told you that these SAFETY devices actually make the sockets UNSAFE? Instead of preventing danger, they present danger? Would you be concerned if they were not made and tested to any British Safety standard at all?
