Busy Summer Saturday at Exeter St. Davids | 01/08/15

August 1st is notoriously one of the busiest days for travel in the country and this year I decided to head over to the Great Western network, mainly to get a ride on the Saturday only loco hauled set that runs between Par and Exeter. But while I was down there I couldn't resist filming the other traffic that was about! Exeter and services through Devon are one of very few routes that actually see more train services on a Saturday than any other day of the week. The frequency of HST's coming and going was pretty impressive. Some times there were 3 an hour between Exeter and Paddington all from different places.

TRAINS FEATURED:
First Great Western Loco Hauled Set with 57602.
FGW HST's, 143's, 153's & 150's
Cross Country HST & Voyagers.
South West Trains class 159's.

I've included some of the timings destinations & origins on screen.
Listen to some of the FGW HST's, those MTU's are slowly getting louder and louder, some of them even sound quite good dare I say.

Great to see the class 57 loco hauled service going empty stock out to the depot after arriving from Plymouth. The set operates Saturday only operates the 11:25 Par to Plymouth, then the 13:35 from Plymouth to Exeter and later forms the 17:50 Exeter to Penzance.
