In what was the 2nd overall Championship show that was held at the Pilgrim Lanes in Haverhill, this was the big annual event on Channel 5 to wrap up the 1988-1989 season of the program, featuring the top five bowlers with the highest triples from that season itself. This was also the first Championship event to feature Ed Harding on color commentary instead of Brian Leary, helping out Don Gillis when it came to calling the overall show, with previous Champion Dick O'Connell also joining in as well.

The top five bowlers from this telecast were: Tom Olszta, Steve Renaud, Det Klein, Jim Kelly, and Jeff Atkins.

This was a fantastic show overall, featuring very high scores nearly all around along with great shot making, and CLUTCH performances as well during certain matches.
