Here’s what Prem Singh Tamang said after winning the second term in Sikkim

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, secured a second term in government on June 2 with a commanding victory in 31 of the 32 assembly constituencies.

Tamang, who contested from Soreng Chakung and Rhenock, won in both constituencies with over 10,094 votes. Just ahead of the official announcement of his victory, the SKM President marched to Paljor Stadium in Gangtok, where hundreds of SKM supporters were gathered. Speaking to the media, Tamang thanked the people of Sikkim people and party workers.

"First of all, I would like to thank the people of Sikkim and the party workers who worked really hard. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the Glacial Lake Outburst Flood affecting Sikkim, our government has worked efficiently over the last five years, hence we have won this election," Tamang said.

He also appealed to the people of Sikkim to maintain peace in the state. Tamang further added that the blueprint for the next five years is ready.

"We already started working on all the announcements that we made for a ‘Sunehra Sikkim’ and ‘Samriddh Sikkim’. We have already had a series of meetings with all the departments in charge. We have the blueprint for the next five years ready and will pass the orders at the earliest," the SKM president added.
