Small-scale PPPs Discussion Session

This session addresses a critical global challenge: the water infrastructure gap, which leaves 2.2 billion people without access to clean drinking water in their homes, and 3/5ths of the world’s population without connected toilets and treated wastewater. Financing from the private sector is essential and should be available, but due to low returns on these projects, it is challenging to attract funding for all but the larger and more economically viable urban infrastructure projects.
The panelists showcase innovative new approaches to financing small-scale water projects in low-income countries, particularly in rural or peri-urban areas, facilitating the sharing of practical experiences and exploration of replicable and scalable funding strategies.
