Train Cab Ride NL / Utrecht - Den Haag - Utrecht - Almere - Amsterdam / New Year Special 2021

Happy New Year everyone! :D

Welcome in 2021 and welcome on board the first video of the year! Today I serve you a special edition with multiple rides in one video! And it’s extra special because we have a ride on the DDZ intercity. DDZ is not running at the moment because of vibrations in some of the train at speeds above 120km/h. Not at our train in the video by the way! All train now get extra inspected and will get a fix before they will get back on track. So, enjoy this ride! Are you ready? Let’s hit the tracks!

0:00 30th of November 2020 // Utrecht – Den Haag
The first ride of the video is the one with the DDZ intercity. That day I got to drive this stunning train from Utrecht to Den Haag Central Station. We depart with a small delay from Utrecht because it arrived late from the Amersfoort direction.

After we’ve passed the speed sign, we take the train to the tracks maximum allowed speed so we can get back on schedule as soon as possible. It is possible to be back on schedule in Gouda already, but for that all must go without interruptions from other trains.

As you will see all is going as planned. It will start raining, but the train is already on full speed at that moment. So the slightly slippery tracks won’t be a problem for getting on speed for us.

We arrive perfectly on time at Gouda. There the train dispatcher wasn’t expecting us yet. Our train was still planned with the 3-minute delay. Therefor we give the dispatcher a call to wake her up.

With a small delay we depart from Gouda to Den Haag. Lots of viaducts will pass by and as you can see, I named all of them in the video. That was more work than I thought it would be. Hope you enjoy it!

34:51 16th of December 2020 // Den Haag - Utrecht:
After arrival in Den Haag Centraal, the rest of the video was recorded on the 16th of December. A beautiful day as you might know from the video of last week when we took a ride through the fog.

We get to drive the intercity from Den Haag in the Enschede direction. We only drive it back towards Utrecht. Same way back, but now with a nice blue sky instead of rain. Again, I added all the names of the viaducts and of course all the other lines splitting up from ours. This ride to Utrecht is one without delays or problems.

Between Zoetermeer and Gouda you will notice a temporary speed limit at 100km/h. This is because the tracks at that point are not stable enough for the higher speed. It will get fixed in the near future.

1:12:19 Utrecht – Almere:
After arrival in Utrecht we change trains and hop on the sprinter service towards Almere via Hilversum. We get to drive an SLT sprinter this time. This is a unique sprinter service in The Netherlands because it skips a few stations on this line. We won’t stop on Hollandsche Rading, Hilversum Mediapark and Bussum Zuid.

After we have arrived in Almere we change trains again and get the last train of the ride from Almere to Amsterdam Central Station. Another ride without any problems. But now you get to see a nice view on the sunset again! Last week you’ve seen the sunrise of this day, and now you can (almost) enjoy the sunset! Have a great ride!
