Route 86 Melbourne Tram Drivers View - May 2016

English - Route 86 tram drivers view from Docklands Harbour Town / Waterfront CIty to Bundoora RMIT via Bourke St City, Smth Street Collingwood, High Street Northcote and Preston and Plenty Road.

A few things have changed. E class trams now share the route leading to one tram at a time and speed restrictions on some of the bridges. The safety zone stop at Tyler Street towards Bundoora has also been removed as it was too short for E class trams.

This view from Docklands Harbour Town takes you through the City Past Southern Cross Station, Bourke St Parliament House and The Royal Exhibition Buildings and Melbourne Museum.

Route 86 also travels through Melbourne's Northern suburbs through to it's most northern point Bundoora RMIT which is 21kms away.

It's one of the longest lines on the network and even on a Sunday it takes nearly an hour and a half from end to end.

Filmed in a B2 class tram, things have changed slightly in 2017 as E class trams also service the route as well.
