Breaking the Silence: Men's Mental Health and Overcoming Stigma

Описание к видео Breaking the Silence: Men's Mental Health and Overcoming Stigma

Traditionally, many men were raised with the expectation to be strong and unemotional. Speaking up about our mental health has become more commonplace in society, however, stigma still prevents men from reaching out for professional help when they really need it.

Not sharing how we feel or our human experience doesn’t allow us to open ourselves to help if we’re experiencing issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction and trauma. If left alone, these problems can intensify over time and have huge consequences and negative impacts on a person’s life and their family.

Hosted by Diane Young, South Pacific Private’s Addictions and Trauma Specialist, she will have a conversation with Psychotherapist and facilitator of South Pacific Private’s Changes program Glyn as they discuss men’s mental health. They will be discussing ways to maintain mental health, the stigma around mental health for men and how to reach out for support for yourself or loved ones
