BONUS episode on Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals offense. In our last AZ offensive tape study, we talked about some of the areas in which Kyler Murray excelled last year. But he's still learning and maturing as a player. So, in this episode, we are going to take a look at some of the areas in which he needs to improve in order to help take this team to the next level.

Last year Kyler Murray took a lot of sacks just holding the football. One of the things I want to see him do better this year is process things quicker…understand what he is seeing and get the ball out of his hands more quickly.

But, by the same token, as he’s reading things, he needs to understand exactly WHAT he’s seeing. So, there are times I actually want to see him slow down his process…set, and if he gets a definitive read, quicken up and get the ball out of his hands. Whereas in other situations, he needs to take a beat...let things play out to completion, in order to maximize his options and not just hit the quick bailout button by kicking it out to the back.

He needs to understand exactly where he is looking and WHO he needs to read. Sometimes the patience of “I know who I am reading so I can just let it play out and then I can kick it to who I need to kick it to. Other times getting my eyes there sooner and knowing ‘I got to get it to the flat defender and everything’s gone, easy completion, get the ball out of my hands much sooner and allow my playmakers to be able to make plays beyond that.’”

In short, it was exciting to see Kyler Murray make such great strides from his first year to his second year in the league. It will be interesting to see where he can take his game and what he can build off of in year three…I’m excited to see where he is going to be able to go in this offense. I believe the Arizona Cardinals can compete in the NFC West and are squarely in the mix for a playoff spot.
